The short version
- We collect what we need to give you a ride. Account details, location during a trip, payment info, and basic device info.
- We don’t sell your data. Ever. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers.
- We share with your driver/rider. So they can find you. Your phone is masked through the app.
- Location is on only when you need it. Background location stops 5 minutes after your trip ends.
- You can delete your account anytime. From the app or by emailing us. We delete data within 30 days.
01 Who we are
This Privacy Policy is from Hailz (Pvt) Ltd (also referred to as “Hailz”,
“we”, “us” or “our”), operator of the Hailz mobile app and
website. Hailz is a Software-as-a-Service ride-hailing platform live in Lahore,
Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Our office is at Kick Start co-working space, 58-A2 Tipu Road, Block A-2, Gulberg III,
Lahore 54000, Pakistan. This policy works together with our
Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.
02 What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the platform. Here’s the full list:

We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone, camera (except when you
actively upload a CNIC or selfie), or anything else from your phone unless we ask first.
03 Why we collect it
- To match riders and drivers. Location, account info, trip data.
- To calculate fares. Trip distance, time, route.
- To process payments. Payment info, fare.
- To keep people safe. Verified CNIC, real-time GPS, support records.
- To give support. Communications, account info, trip history.
- To improve the app. Usage data, crash logs — in aggregate, never tied to your identity.
- To comply with Pakistani law. Tax records, regulator requests, court orders.
That’s it. We do not use your data to build marketing profiles or sell to anyone.
04 Location data
Location is the most sensitive thing we collect. Here’s exactly how we handle it:
- Riders: we collect live location only while you have an open ride (from request to drop-off).
- Drivers: we collect live location while you’re logged in as “available” or have an active trip. When you go offline in the app, location collection stops.
- Background collection stops 5 minutes after your trip ends.
- We never track your location when the app is closed and you have no active trip.
You can revoke location permission in your phone settings at any time. Without it, Hailz cannot
offer pickups, but the rest of the app still works for browsing.
05 Who we share with
We share only what is necessary, with these specific groups:
- Your driver / rider on the current trip. Their app shows your first name, photo, pickup location and a masked phone number routed through the app.
- Payment providers. JazzCash, EasyPaisa, and card processors get the data they need to take your payment securely.
- SMS / WhatsApp providers. So we can send you trip confirmations and OTPs.
- Maps & routing services. Anonymised coordinates only.
- Law enforcement & regulators. When we receive a valid court order, subpoena, or written request from Pakistani authorities. We push back on overbroad requests.
- Our employees and contractors who need the data to do their job (support, engineering, finance) under written confidentiality.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers, marketers,
or data brokers. Not now, not later.
06 Payment information
Full card numbers and JazzCash/EasyPaisa PINs are never stored on Hailz servers.
They are handled directly by PCI-compliant payment processors. We see and store only the last
4 digits, expiry month, and a tokenised reference so you don’t have to re-enter your card
every trip.
Drivers receive subscription invoices weekly and can download a tax-ready receipt from the app.
Fare and subscription records are kept for 7 years to comply with FBR record-keeping
requirements.
07 Cookies & analytics
The Hailz website uses a small number of cookies and analytics tools:
- Essential cookies — for login, language, and dark mode preference.
- Analytics — aggregated, non-identifying usage data so we can see which pages are working and where people get stuck.
- Marketing pixels — Meta Pixel for advertising performance measurement. You can opt out via your Facebook ad preferences or by using browser tracking-protection.
The Hailz mobile app does not use third-party analytics that read your personal identity. We
use anonymous crash reporting only.
08 How long we keep your data

After the retention period or once you delete your account, data is permanently erased from
our active systems within 30 days. Anonymised aggregates (e.g., “number of trips in Lahore
in March”) may be kept indefinitely.
09 Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that’s wrong (name, phone, vehicle details).
- Delete your account and personal data — from the app or by emailing us.
- Export your data in a portable format (JSON or CSV).
- Object to a specific use of your data — for example, opting out of marketing communications.
- Restrict processing while you challenge an issue.
To exercise any of these, email support@hailz.co with the
subject line “Privacy request”. We respond within 10 business days.
Some data we have to keep even if you delete your account — for example, financial records
required by FBR or evidence in a live safety investigation. We’ll tell you which records
we’re keeping and for how long.
10 Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS / TLS 1.2+ encryption.
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt — we cannot read your password even if asked.
- Payment data uses PCI-DSS compliant processors.
- Access to personal data inside Hailz is restricted to staff who need it for their role, and is logged.
- We run regular security reviews and penetration testing.
- If we suffer a data breach that affects you, we will tell you within 72 hours of confirming it.
11 Children
Hailz is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data
from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we’ll close the
account.
12 International transfers
Hailz primarily stores data on servers located in Pakistan. Some technical
services (e.g., crash reporting, email delivery, payment processing) may transfer data through
providers outside Pakistan. We use providers with adequate data-protection standards (typically
EU GDPR-compliant or equivalent) and have written data-processing terms in place with each one.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we add a new
feature or Pakistani data-protection law changes. We will notify you of meaningful changes
through the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
Minor wording changes that don’t affect your rights will be reflected in the
“Last updated” date at the top of this page.
